Different professionals come up with different techniques and methods to make the most of their affiliate marketing ventures. Despite the fact that different marketers recommend different techniques, almost everyone will agree on the following five tips.

Here are the 5 Most Important Affiliate Marketing Tips for Beginners:

1.       Own a Blog (Self-hosting):

Many newbies internet marketers make this mistake. When breaking into the tough affiliate marketing world, having a self-hosted blog is a definite necessity now. Although there are many free platforms that you can surely use, they are not going to make any positive impact on your readers. Moreover, I recommend you all to have a self-hosted blog, because it significantly increases the level of trust and credibility of the internet marketer.

Imagine how you expect other people to invest their money on your recommendation, when they do not even know you properly – and not to mention, you are online on a free platform.

2.       Provide Value to Readers:

This can very well be one of the most important tips for better affiliate marketing. Some internet marketers get too obsessed with making sales that they even forget to provide adequate value to their readers.

Never try to push the sale too much. Furthermore, do not even make the pitch earlier than you are supposed to. Provide complete information and value to your readers and they will make the decision of purchasing the product/service themselves.

3.       Be Reliable:

One of the most important aspects of affiliate marketing is to always be reliable. The worst thing is that you cannot afford to be unreliable at any passage of time. One mistake can totally ruin your credibility. Therefore – when promoting and recommending products – never get lured with the commission prices and lucrative offers. Always make sure that you are recommending the right product to your loyal readers and audience.

4.       Build Relationships and Trust:

A successful affiliate marketer reaps the rewards of building relationships and trust with its loyal customers, audience and readers. It is imperative for you to build a certain level of relationship with your audience. And in order to do that, communication is the key.

Make sure to communicate with your readers often, and try to be in their shoes for a while, too. Having a strong relationship and level of trust will significantly increase your affiliate marketing business.

5.       Be Creative:

Consider affiliate marketing as an open ocean. The sky is the limit here. Try to be creative and innovative in your process. However, my recommendation would be to first stabilize your position and status within your audience. After building a certain level of loyal fan-based customers, you can then afford to be creative and improvise to give a boost to your business. You can start contests, offer special discounts and schemes, etc.

A great tip is to also write negative reviews about products. You won't make any money from these reviews but it will give you more authority as a respected reviewer.

Thanks Jens, that is a great tip. I’ve written several ‘negative’ reviews about certain solo ad platforms and providers in the past. It helps let off a little steam and also warns your readers to be on the lookout for crap!

I would advise to be careful about going ‘over the top’ though. You don’t want to make it look like you have a vendetta against a particular product or marketer. 🙂
